SCROLL ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS POST TO SEE UPDATES ON HOW DAVID IS DOING.
On Wednesday the 27th of November, we received a phone call just after midnight from a frantic voice on the other end of the line. It's a phone call a person never wants to receive. The call was from Dawn, one of our dearest friends for over twenty years. Something had happened with her beloved David.
David is 42 years old, and is a physicians assistant at Valley Medical Center in Kent, Washington. He was scheduled to work Thanksgiving Day, and decided to retire early to get a full night's rest. Dawn and her children decided to stay up and watch a movie. As she was sitting with her children watching the movie, she heard an odd sound from their upstairs bedroom. When she went to check it out, she found her David lying on the ground unconscious and having a seizure. By the time we arrived at their home, David had already been scooped up by the paramedics and rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Dawn was doing her best to organize the family so she herself could get to the hospital. After she finally got there, and after what seemed like an eternity for everyone waiting to hear the news, another call finally came. What was initially suspected to be a possible stroke, turned out to be a Glioma Tumor in David's brain. What a thing to discover any day, let alone on Thanksgiving day.
Tomorrow, David will undergo perhaps one of the biggest events thus far in his life. As he will remain awake, his group of doctors will perform an approximate seven hour procedure to go into his brain, initally fully map, and secondarily fully remove the tumor. David will be awake for the entirety of the procedure, a requirement by the surgeons as they continually test to make sure they do not do more harm than good. We all remain with tears of disbelief, angst, and spending quite a bit of time on our knees with thoughts, prayers, and the good faith that David along with his team of doctors will fly through this procedure with no problems what so ever.
If you know David, or if this story moves you to a desire to help, a GO FUND ME PAGE has been set up for them. Any donation regardless of intent or size will help David, Dawn, and their family recover from this event. They are sure to need any help we can offer to provide a cushion to cover meals, bills, and other things that will arise from this event. Even if you can't give, PLEASE share the link and spread the news. Doing so gets more and more of us on board to help David, Dawn, and their family in their time of need.
