Rift Cut Oak Finishes
The Rift Cut Oak Wood Story
All of our Rift Cut Oak veneers and plywood are made from large premium North American Red Oak logs that are plane sliced then rift cut to create the distinctive "combed" grain. Veneers are sorted by color and quality. We buy only "A" grade veneers and our suppliers then sort their stock again to give us the "best of the best". Our plywood is constructed with cores of premium grade MDF made from recycled wood fibers, NUF glues and are CARB compliant.
Solid woods are carefully selected to complement the veneers and are also top graded.
The Premium Finish Story
Our Finishes range from clear natural finishes through rich stains into opaques and even some metal flakes.
All of these finishes share some common features:
All are formulated to be very low VOC and to protect the environment and all have a catalyzed varnish top coat to provide superior durability and chemical resistance.

Walnut Finishes
The Walnut Wood Story
Our American Walnut veneer is quarter sawn and book matched and then hand selected for consistant color and grain quality. Only "A" grade veneer is used.

Ebony, Zebra and Rosewood Finishes
The Exotic Composite Veneer Story:
These veneers are created by using responsibly harvested, fast growing hardwoods. The process is quite unique and involves a dye and slicing technique originally developed in Italy. The goal is to replicate interesting and exotic woods that are in short supply or illegal, in a manner that is consistent with our efforts to be environmentally responsible. An added benefit is that the consistency and quality of the material is greatly improved and it's use sustainable. Final fabrication of the panels using these veneers is done locally to our factory (Los Angeles) using CARB compliant adhesives and core materials.
Solid Woods: Carefully selected to complement the veneers and may include birch, maple, Beech or other light smooth grain species. Again, all top grades.
The Premium Finish Story: Our finished on these woods mostly consist of clear coats to showcase the beautiful grain and color patterns of the wood. All of these finished are formulated to be very low VOC and the top coats are catalyzed varnish for superior durability and chemical resistance.

The Metal Accent Trim Story
Some items in the Creative Elegance line are available with metal accent trim. you can use these accents to warm up a piece with an organic "artsy" treatment or "cool" it out with the modern aesthetic of brushed steel.
The metals we use are solid aluminum or copper laminates. The "Stainless Steel" and "Brushed Bronze" finishes are brushed anodized aluminum. "The Autumn Leaves" is a chemically treated and antiqued copper laminate and the "Champagne Leaf" is a chemically treated and antiqued process on aluminum laminate.
